Donald L. Terry

May 23, 1948 to December 20, 2020

WINAMAC - Donald L. “Don” Terry, 72, of Winamac, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 23, 1948 in Winamac to the late Gerald “Red” and Myrna Poss Terry. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Teri L. Westfall Conrad on May 10, 2003 in Winamac. She survives.

Mr. Terry worked for NIPSCO and retired in April of 2003 after 32 years of service.  He was a lifetime member and Past Commander at Winamac VFW Post #1728, as well as a longtime member of the Winamac Eagles #2580. He was a former member of the Winamac American Legion Post #71 and Winamac Masonic Lodge #262 F&AM. After retirement, he found joy in helping his friends in the farming community. He enjoyed raising cattle and gardening. He was always doing something and never sat idle. He and his wife enjoyed going to the casino and playing golf together. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his son and looked forward to deer season with his grandsons. He also enjoyed playing euchre and poker with his friends. He was a dedicated Chicago Cubs, IU Basketball, and Dale Earnhardt fan. He participated in many leagues over the years (golf, softball, bowling, and horseshoes). He loved giving back to the community and never wanted any recognition. More than anything, he loved his family very much. He had a rich and full life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Guests may schedule a time to come to visitation at www.frainmortuary.com or by calling 574-946-3222. A private funeral services will be held at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Mt. Zion-Franklin Township Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
