ROYAL CENTER — Opal L. Steel, 93, Winamac, passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the Pleasant View Home, Winamac.
Born on Feb. 23, 1918 in Francesville, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Laura (Olson) Kopka. She married Clyde Frain in 1958 and he preceded her in death in 1963. She married her second husband, Paul Steel in 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1989.
Survivors include her step daughter, Susan Haner and husband William of Logansport; 2 step grandchildren, Brian Haner and wife Wendy of Peru and William Bradley Haner and wife Mary of Florida; 3 step great grandchildren, Jacob, Zachery and Evelyn Grace Haner; nephews, Thomas Seidel and wife Mary and Allen Seidel and wife Sheila all of Winamac; niece, Marilyn Kreiger and husband George of Valparaiso. She was also survived by several great nieces and nephews and her extended family at Pleasant View.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Harry Kopka and sister, Ethel Seidel.
Mrs. Steel was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winamac and she also had been a former “Pink Lady” at Pulaski Memorial Hospital. She had formerly worked at Jackson Drug Store in Winamac.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal center Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday (June 1), at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Landry officiating. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac.
