Dorothy M. Hizer Warfield
August 12, 1924 to July 7, 2019
KEWANNA - Dorothy Margaret McLochlin Hizer Warfield, 94 a lifelong community member of Kewanna and Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. passed away at 11:08 a.m., Sunday, July 7, at Millers Merry Manor in Culver.
Born August 12, 1924 in Grass Creek, she was the daughter of the late John Augustus and Vernice Oliver McLochlin. She was a 1942 graduate and proud cheerleader from Grass Creek High School. On May 8, 1964 she married Raymond E. Warfield. He preceded in death on Sept. 15, 2000.
Survivors include her children, Marcia Ann Hizer Campbell of Miromar Lakes, Fla., Katrina Jane Hizer Smith Beattie (Mark) of Sherman, Ill., John Joseph Hizer of Kewanna and Cresswell A. Hizer (Lynn) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kim Campbell Powers, Courtney Campbell Bennett, Jason Smith, Sarah Smith, Kyle Hizer, Brittany Hizer Tripathi, Benton Hizer and Cole Hizer; niece, Pat McMillen and nephew, Rob Beery. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Hizer Jr.; grandson, Cade Campbell; siblings, John Robert McLochlin, Lowell “Doc” McLochlin and Martha Jane “Babe” McLochlin Beery; her first husband, Lawrence Hizer; and her dearest first cousin, Charles McLochlin.
Mrs. Warfield and her husband Raymond owned and operated R & D Store in Kewanna for 17 years. She also formerly worked in nursing, several factories, the South Bend U.S. Post Office, and was a founding owner of McHiLand Farms, LLC. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She was also a former Union Township Trustee and EMT. She was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 14, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home & Crematory, Kewanna Chapel where there will be a scripture service at 4 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 15, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Kewanna with Father Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will be at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery near Kewanna.
Memorial donations may be made to Kindred Hospice in Rochester.
