Evelyn M. Fechner
February 2, 1919 to June 19, 2019
WINAMAC - Evelyn M. Fechner, 100, of Winamac, passed away at 2:43 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.
She was born Feb. 2, 1919 in Toto, to the late Carl and Hava Jordan Lainhart. She was the valedictorian of her class at Knox High School, Knox. On Dec. 31, 1939, she married Franklin W. Fechner. He passed away Aug. 29, 1985.

Mrs. Fechner had a 20-year banking career and retired in 1980 as bank manager from Farmers Bank and Trust Co. - Bass Lake Branch. During her time working for the bank, she attended classes at South Bend Business College. She was a longtime volunteer and member of the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer at the American Red Cross and Von Tobel Senior Center. She was a devoted member of the Winamac Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed serving as a church greeter. Later in life, she was recognized on numerous occasions for her many hours of community service and generosity. She loved and appreciated people and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 24, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, at the funeral home with Rev. Don Franklin and Rev. Dave Broad officiating. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Winamac.
