Larry D. Shidler

April 24, 1940 to May 10, 2019

WINAMAC - Larry D. "Bean" Shidler, 79, of Winamac, passed away Friday, May 10, surrounded by his family, at home.

He was born April 24, 1940 in Pulaski, to the late Thomas Sr. and Ruth Florence Biddle Shidler. On June 29, 1959, he married Geneva Hines in Winamac. She passed away June 2, 2003.

Mr. Shidler worked as a farmer and iron worker most of his life. He was a member of Iron Workers Local #292 in South Bend. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #2513 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #2580 in Winamac, as well as the Sons of the American Legion Post #92 in North Judson. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan having spent a lot of time at Shady Hill, Eldora and Talladega. He was a talented ironworker, woodworker, builder and problem solver. He liked to listen to bluegrass and country music. He loved his family very much, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 16, at the funeral home with Rev. David Norris officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion-Franklin Township Cemetery, Winamac.
