Wilbur S. Martindale

February 22, 1941 to April 11, 2019

WINAMAC - Wilbur Scott "Marty" Martindale, 78, of Star City, passed away at 11:18 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital, Winamac.

He was born Feb. 22, 1941 in Oak, IN to the late Joseph Scott and Florence Tomlinson Martindale. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He was a life member of the Winamac VFW Post #1728. On Nov. 26, 1997, he married Erlinda "Linda" Quitay in Tanjay, Philippines. She survives

Mr. Martindale was a member at All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport, for 20 years and most recently was attending St. Peter Catholic Church in Winamac. He was a retired manager at Plymouth Tube where he had worked for 41 years. In his younger years, he liked racing sprint cars at Rensselaer, Oxford and Plymouth. He also liked watching NASCAR and attending tractor pulls. He was very talented with his hands and enjoyed fixing old cars and could repair anything. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, mowing, cutting firewood and riding his bicycle on the Panhandle Pathway. He was well-known for his New Year's Eve party at the "Party Room" in his garage. He lived a well-rounded life and was very supportive of his friends and family. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a eulogy. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Winamac, with Rev. Leroy Kinnaman officiating. Burial will military honors will take place at Buck Cemetery, Thornhope wth the American Legion and VFW assisting with military graveside services.
