MEDARYVILLE - Stephen "Steve" Barnett, 68, of Medaryville, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Monday, June 4, at Franciscan Health Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born Jan. 17, 1950 in Shelby County, and raised by his adoptive parents, Norman and Junne Baxter Barnett.

He is survived by:

Angela (Patrick) Dowell, Lafayette, Daughter

   Aiden Dowell, Grandson

Mr. Barnett was a 1968 graduate of Southwestern High School in Shelbyville and studied history education at Ball State University,Muncie. He worked for Leary Construction Co. in Greenfield, for many years painting water towers. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and talking about history. He was a model railroad enthusiast, an avid numismatist, and a baseball card collector. Most of all, he loved his family very much and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 10, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Medaryville. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating. Final disposition will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses.
