WINAMAC - Jack L. Day, 86, of Winamac, died Tuesday, March 20.

He was born Oct. 1, 1931 in South Bend, to the late Perry and Mamie Cornelius Day. He  married Sandra Jean Barnard Day. She died June 14, 2000.

Mr. Day served for 15 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the former commander of the VFW in South Bend. He was a former employee of Monon Trailer Company in Monon, and Walmart in Rensselaer. He enjoyed writing cook books and cheering for Notre Dame sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Brandon Day and Sierra Burch. 

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 30, at Bedford Cemetery, Monon. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services. 

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff of Hickory Creek for all of their help.
