Mrs. Walter was extremely proud of her Russian and Dutch heritage and was very fond of her paternal grandmother, Alexandria. She and her husband were best friends. They enjoyed traveling, camping, music and hanging out with friends and family. She was employed at K-Mart in Valparaiso, Chesterton and Plymouth for 32 years and retired in 2013 as store manager of the Family Dollar Store in Winamac. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening. She was a Certified Community Tree Steward in the State of Indiana and faithfully served on the Winamac Tree Committee. She also enjoyed home remodeling and interior designing. She and her husband restored their home in Winamac together. Most of all, she loved her family very dearly, especially spending time with her granddaughters. She was the foundation of her family – her presence will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Private burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
