Harold L. Hoover

December 22, 1933 to December 22, 2016

WINAMAC - Harold L. "Hoot" Hoover, 83, of Winamac, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, at Millers Merry Manor, Culver.

He was born Dec. 22, 1933 in Pulaski County to the late Charles and Alvina Meyer Hoover.

He is survived by:

Allen (Cindy Cox) Hoover, Brooklyn Park, MN, Son 
Andy Hoover, South Bend, Son 
Ron Hoover, South Bend, Son 
Grandchildren: Dustin Hoover, Brandi Kline Silver, Nathan Gonzalez, Tana Hoover, Ryan Cox, Nick Hoover, Chris Hoover, Sarah Hoover, Ricky Kline Jr., Cory Kline, and
Stefanie Kline.

Mr. Hoover was a Winamac High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1951-1957. He played baseball in Winamac as a young man. He and his father became avid Chicago Cubs fans. He enjoyed seeing his beloved Cubs become World Series Champs this year. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. He cheered the Broncos and Peyton Manning to their Super Bowl win. He retired after 29 years working as an electrician for the town of Winamac, and truly enjoyed working for the electric department. He enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, mushroom hunting, gardening, fishing and shooting pool. He especially enjoyed talking with people and swapping stories. He enjoyed any time that he got to spend with his family and close friends. He was a member of the Winamac Eagles and Winamac VFW. He was also a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Winamac.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.Burial will be at St. Peters Cemetery, Winamac. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial donations may be made to the activities department of Millers Merry Manor or Pulaski Health Care Center.
