Edith I. Tucker

October 5, 1917 to December 13, 2016

MONON - Edith I. Tucker, 99, of Francesville, passed away at 9:35 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Parkview Haven Nursing Home, Francesville.

She was born Oct. 5, 1917 in Pulaski County to the late William “Bill” and Minnie Doll Garling. Her first marriage was to Everett Kruger on March 10, 1936; he passed away in 1949. She later married Rhea Tucker on April 14, 1951 in Francesville; he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1984.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Chafey of Indianapolis, Gerald (Carolyn) Kruger of Francesville and a sister, Hannah (Don) Dommer of Winamac. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Bill Chafey, Curt Chafey, Darryl Chafey, Jerry L. Kruger, and Jana Drone; 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death with her parents and both husbands was a brother, Robert Garling, her son-in-law, Bill Chafey and a great-great-grandson Noah Chafey.

Mrs. Tucker was a lifelong member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ of Francesville and charter member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors, gardening, quilting, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at St. James Salem United Church of Christ (10934 W 600 S, Francesville); Rev. Judith Doll to officiate. Interment to follow in the St. James Salem Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Tucker’s name to St. James Salem United Church of Christ.
