Pearl M. Wheaton

July 3, 1921 to September 22, 2016

MONTICELLO - Pearl M. Wheaton, 95, Elkhart (formerly of Monticello), passed away at 6:40 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at the East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart. 

She was born July 3, 1921, in Winamac to the late Harmon and Dessie Maude Neely Hoffman. On Oct. 18, 1946, in the living room of Rev. and Mrs. Alvin Hall in Monticello, she married Paul Wheaton; he passed away on April 10, 1985.

Surviving is son, Robert E. "Bob" Wheaton, White Pigeon, Mich.; and sister, Mary Hoffman, Muncie.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Russell, James, Lester, Harold, and Merl Wheaton; and sisters, Lois Hoffman and Janet Heims. 

Mrs. Wheaton had lived in Elkhart since 2006, moving from Monticello where she had lived since 1946. She had also lived in Winamac from 1921-1946.She was a self-employed hairdresser in Monticello for over 60 years, retiring in 2006. She graduated from the approved University of Beauty Culture of Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating. 
Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.

Memorials may be given to the wishes of the donor.
