Annabel Scher Ring

April 24, 1923 to September 21, 2016

HUNTINGTON - Annabel Scher Ring, 93 of Huntington passed away at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

She was born April 24, 1923 in Huntington, a daughter of Walter and Geneva (Shanks) Robb. She married Fredrick William Scher; he preceded her in death on May 1, 1987. She later married Robert Flora, he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1999. She then married Mel Ring on Dec. 26, 2004. He survives.

Additional survivors include a four daughters: Carol (Don) Scher-Doswell, Gloria (Alan) Hizer of Winamac, Christine (Steve) Ellet and Elizabeth Brundige; four sons: Gregory (Heidi) Scher, Douglas Scher, Marty Scher and Brad Scher; a sister: Wilma Bolssen; 24 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; a step daughter: Barbara Rutledge and a step son: Carl (Beth) Ring.

She was preceded in death by son Curtis Scher.

Mrs. Ring had worked at the Huntington Hospital and Myers Funeral Home over the years. She was a 1941 graduate of Andrews High school and had attended Huntington College. She served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, three years as a hospital corpsman and dental technician. She was an active leader and supporter of the Huntington County 4-H and was a member of Forever Friends. She enjoyed sewing and crafts; one of her hobbies was a cartoonist, and she had an extensive cartoon collection.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery,  Huntington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the North East Indiana Honor Flight or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Fund, sent in care to Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
