Alvin D. Honegger Sr.

June 8, 1930 to August 31, 2016

RENSSELAER - Alvin Duard Honegger, Sr., 86, of rural Rensselaer, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

He was born in Francesville on June 8, 1930, son of the late Herman and Ida (Quasebarth) Honegger. On Nov. 24, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frankfort, he married his wife of 59 years, Mary Davey Honegger. She survives.

He is also survived by children: Alvin Duard Honegger, Jr., Glenn Honegger, Virginia (Andrew) Fisher, Grace (Michael) Majewski and Patrick Schuttrow (godson); three grandchildren: Audrey, Anthony and Sarah Majewski; siblings: Phyllis Honegger Meyer, Kathleen Honegger (Fred) Manion, Ronald Honegger and Delores Schuttrow.

He was preceded in death by: brother Wayne Honegger; brother-in-law Francis Meyer; Cecil and Florence Gustin and Charles Schuttrow.

Mr. Honegger graduated from Francesville High School with the class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rensselaer. He was a lifelong farmer; farming and family were his life.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. (CT), Friday, Sept. 2, at Steinke Funeral Home, Rensselaer. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Don Davison officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
