Ida May Markin

August 8, 1920 to June 9, 2016

FRANCESVILLE - Ida May Markin, 95, of Batesville, formerly of Francesville, passed away at 5 a.m., Thursday, June 9, at the Waters of Batesville, Batesville.

She was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Chicago, to the late Frank A. and Gertrude Caldwell Clark. She married James W. Markin on Aug. 18, 1940 in Davenport, IA. He died Dec. 22, 1992.

May graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago, IL and went on to attend Maryville College in Maryville, TN. She had worked as a legal secretary. May worked for the Pulaski County extension office and had served as Pulaski County deputy surveyor. She was a member of the Pulaski Presbyterian Church where she had served as an elder. May was a 4-H leader for many years. She was also a longtime member of the Jefferson township home extension club. May was a member of the American Legion Auxillary in Francesville and the DAR. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, counted cross stitching and other varius needlework. She was also an avid reader. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Wednesday, June 15, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel-Francesville. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon (Wednesday, June 15), at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville, with Rev. Frank Lay officiating. Burial will be at Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
