Janet L. Hartwick

October 19, 1925 to February 2, 2016

WINAMAC - Janet Lois Hartwick, 90, of South Bend (formerly of Winamac), passed away at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, surrounded by her family at her residence in South Bend.

She was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Winamac, to the late Peter and Mable Freeman Kruzick. She married Elmo Edward Hartwick on June 3, 1946. He died Jan. 8, 1995.

Susan Hartwick, South Bend, Daughter 
Martha Wagner, Granddaughter
David Wagner, Grandson 
Tilar Wagner, Great Grandson 
Wesley Wagner, Great Grandson
Shaun & Jason Wilson, Step Grandsons

Preceded in death by:
4 brothers: Phillip, Hubert, James and Emil
1 sister: Ruth Ault 

Mrs. Hartwick was a homemaker and a former bookkeeper at the Schultz Brothers store in Winamac. She was a 1943 graduate of Winamac High School. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 96 in Winamac and Pulaski County REACT. She was an active member of Pulaski County Human Services where she was selected as senior volunteer of the year. She had also worked as a school bus driver for Eastern Pulaski schools. She was an avid gardener. She enjoyed volunteering her time, camping, making crafts, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing board games and playing cards. She was actively involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A celebration of her life will follow at 7 p.m. (Tuesday, Feb. 9), at the funeral home, beginning with Eastern Star Services. Burial of cremains will be at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
