James Reinholt

WINAMAC - James Reinholt, 69, 8747 W 100 N, Winamac, passed away at 6:21 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac. 

He was born Oct. 28, 1941 in Winamac, the son of the late L. Jay and Evelyn J. Brucker Reinholt. He married Carol J. Christensen on Aug. 11, 1962, in Monterey. She survives.

Mr. Reinholt was a retired elementary school teacher at the Eastern Pulaski Schools, having taught for 40 years. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1959.  He was also a graduate of Western New Mexico University and received his master's degree from Purdue University. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac.

He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a life member and former president of the Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association, and a member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association. He owned Reinholt Firearms and also operated a shooting range at his home. He conducted many NRA state and regional pistol matches as well as training for numerous police departments. He raised and showed quarter horses and also was horse show judge for many years. He was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash in 2004 by Gov. Joseph Kernan.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., followed by the scriptural wake service, at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday (Oct. 26), at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Winamac with Rev. Martin Sandhage and Rev. Bert Woolson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial donations may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
