Dale E. Christensen

November 28, 1936 to September 11, 2010

 

WINAMAC - Dale Elton Christensen, 73, of 902 S. Market Street, Winamac, died at 11:25 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11,  at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

He was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Chicago to the late Elton and Iris Reiss Christensen. He married Brenda G. Trace,  on Sept. 6, 1958 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She survives.

Mr. Christensen moved to Winamac in 1980. He was also a former resident of Palatine, IL. He was a graduate of Bowling Green University. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Infantry Chemical Corps. He was vice president at Kneip, Inc., a Chicago based meat packer. He served as a representative to the American Meat Institute. He also served as president of Winclair Petroleum in Winamac, and at B & D Oil in Rochester. He retired as the purchasing manager for Galbreath Inc. in Winamac. After retirement, he supervised the 2000 U.S. Census for the Indiana counties of Pulaski and Fulton. He also had worked for the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department. He was a former member of the Winamac Kiwanis Club.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m., (Wednesday, Sept. 15), at the funeral home with Pastor Denny Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Geneva Cemetery, Geneva, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to the Pulaski County Public Library.
