Thomas W. Davis

May 26, 1920 to July 10, 2013

WINAMAC - Thomas W. Davis, 93, of Winamac, died Wednesday, July 10, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

He was born May 26, 1920, in Star City, to the late Otis and Blanch Fahler Davis. He married Ruby L. Reinholt. She died April 28, 2007. He later married Veneda L. Galbreath Hoesel. She survives.

Grandchildren: Carl Sputh, Ryan Sputh, Tom (Mary) Grimm, Anna Grimm, Adam Grimm, Kyle (Mike) Cooney MacNeal, Kelly (Jason) Cooney Krugh, Sean Cooney, Samantha Cunius, Kate Grumme and Paige Grumme.
Great-grandchildren: Aaron MacNeal, Noah MacNeal, Ruby Krugh, and Olivia Krugh.

Mr. Davis was a U.S. Navy veteran. He served on the USS Rockdale in the Pacific during World War II. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. He also was an insurance agent, a plumber, and a volunteer fireman.

Mr. Davis was a member of the Star City United Methodist Church and the Winamac VFW 1728. He enjoyed tinkering, driving his golf cart with his cat named Cat (White Mountain), buying and riding in cars and watching the river. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an imaginative story teller and his kids and grandkids will always remember his facinating tales and life lessons.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Star City United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11 a.m., at the church, with Rev. Ruth Waite officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Star City West Cemetery, Star City. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
