TUCSON, ARIZ. - Mary Irene Nice Newell, 68, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Winamac, died Sunday, June 10, following a valiant fight with cancer for over six years.

Born on March 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Myra Nice.

Survivors include her husband, William Newell; a daughter, Christine Emswiler; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Dorothy Nice; a sister, Darlene Fritz; and two brothers, Bill and Bob Nice.

Mrs. Newell graduated in 1962 from Winamac High School and attended Indiana Business College. She worked for many years as an executive secretary. She was an accomplished musician and as a youth was active in the Methodist youth fellowship.

Local memorial services will be held at a later date.
