Thomas R. Koebcke

December 4, 1943 to May 2, 2010

 

MUNCIE - Word has been received of the death of Thomas R. Koebcke, 66, Selma, who passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 2, at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1943 in Valparaiso. He married Susan Wuethrich on Sept. 28, 1963 in Francesville. She survives.

Surviving relatives with his wife are parents, Max and Marie Erb of Monon; son, Tom Koebcke of Austin, TX; daughter, Polly Hines (husband: David) of Noblesville; three grandchildren, Lexiann, Xavier and Izabella Hines of Noblesville; one sister, Kitty (husband: Mike) Brooks of Columbia, MO.

Mr. Koebcke graduated from Francesville High School in 1961 and from Ball State University in 1966. He retired in 1999 after 33 years of teaching for Liberty-Perry Schools. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, Liberty-Perry Teachers Association, Fayette County Rifle and Pistol Club, and ABATE. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman until suffering from rheumatoid arthritis the last 10 years. He was a faithful blood donor until he was unable to donate because of his health.

The funeral service was Thursday May 6, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North SR 3 Muncie. Rev. Mark Ellcessor officiated at the service. Burial was in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie.
