Mary M. Rans Delon
July 10, 1934 to March 7, 2025
WINAMAC - Mary Margaret Rans-Delon, 90, of Ft. Wayne (formerly of Winamac), passed away Friday, March 7, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Monterey, July 10, 1934, the third child of the late John and Helen (Cross) Fagan. While attending La Crosse High School, she enjoyed cheerleading and met her first husband, Lynn Alan Kennedy. They had one son. She married Delbert “Roy” Rans Jr. and welcomed two more sons. They enjoyed 19 years together until his passing in November 1978. Later in life, she married Glen Delon. They created many memories together with their family while in Florida. On April 14, they would have celebrated 25 years of marriage. He survives.

Survivors also include her sons Bill (Janet) Kennedy of Huntington, and Tom (Linda) Rans of Ft. Wayne; daughter-in-law Marilyn Rans of Plymouth; sisters Jeanne Alber of Winamac and Marcella Downhour of Rochester. Also surviving are stepchildren Vicki (Ernie) Bridge of Royal Center, Larry Delon of Florida and Rick (Patti) Delon of Royal Center; plus 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rans-Delon was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington. She formerly owned and operated, with several of her siblings, the Courthouse View Restaurant in Knox. She loved her family and cherished any time she could spend with them. She never passed up a good sale and always had a half cup of hot coffee in her hands. Her smile could light up a room and there was always a sparkle in her eyes. She was always available with a listening ear. She saw the good in everyone she met and made them feel loved. Words cannot convey how much she will be missed. Her family finds peace in knowing she is united with those who went before her. Upon gaining her wings, Mary was met at Heaven’s Gate by her parents, husband Delbert Roy Rans Jr., son Delbert Roy Rans III, brothers John Fagan Jr., William Fagan and Thomas Fagan, step-grandson Robert Campbell and step-daughter Glenda Delon.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, 110 N. Sally Dr., Winamac, with Father Anthony Rowland officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac.
