Lois Tanner

May 2, 1928 to December 29, 2024

WINAMAC - Lois Tanner, 96, of Winamac, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Winamac, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 2, 1928 in Rensselaer, to the late Henry C. and Marie M. [Claussen] Nickels. She attended Medaryville High School through the 11th grade and took her first job at the Medaryville Garment Factory. She married J.D. Tanner on Dec. 18, 1946, at the Medaryville Methodist Church. He passed away in 2008 prior to their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Over the years, the Tanners lived in Medaryville, Monterey and Winamac. In 1993, Mrs. Tanner retired from Eaton’s in Winamac. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed numerous winters in Florida. She was a longtime member of the Monterey United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing as well as playing BINGO. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma and GG. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Additional visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Friday, Jan. 3, at the funeral home. The funeral service will follow at 12 (Friday), at the funeral home with Willy Bushong officiating. Burial will be at Riverbank Cemetery in Winamac.
