FRANCESVILLE - Alliance Bank is working with Banzai, a national financial literacy program, to offer curriculum to local teachers and students free of charge.
Banzai is an interactive online program supplemented by printed workbooks which aligns with state curriculum requirements for personal finance education. It presents students with real-life scenarios in which they learn to pay bills, balance a budget and manage unexpected expenses.
The Pulaski County 4-H Junior Leaders, and the Sunshine Societies at Winamac Community and West Central high schools collected over 1,000 pounds of food for local food pantries last week.
They went door-to-door, collecting canned food for the annual "Trick-or-Treat So Others Can Eat" food drive on the evening of Oct. 22 in Winamac and Francesville.

WINAMAC - Working along with the Health Research & Educational Trust’s Hospital Engagement Network, Pulaski Memorial Hospital has implemented best practices for patient safety, including barcoding medications; electronic alerts for nurses via the hospital computer system; and “no interruption” zones for nurses processing medication.
The result? In the year 2012 the hospital entirely eliminated adverse events connected to blood-thinning drugs and is on track for a repeat performance for 2013.
Dedication of a remnant of the Peninsula prairie remnant along the Panhandle Pathway trail was held Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 22).
Panhandle Pathway is pleased to protect this 3.5 acre portion of the original Prairie Peninsula as an informational and educational habitat along the Panhandle Pathway for all to enjoy the natural beauty and to learn of the many plants and grasses which once grew across the Midwest prairie.
