Also in his report, Mellon stated that the Free-Reduced Lunch count is up slightly over the last year, currently at 53.23%.
The board reviewed the commendations and required actions from the AdvancEd visitation. In general, the visit confirmed the self-evaluation that the staff has been working on the past two years. Street thanked everyone who helped with the visit. Within a few months the school will receive the written report which will provide specific commendations and specific required actions. The school must act on the required actions and report back to AdvancEd. West Central had several students in attendance. This has not occurred with any AdvancEd visit the team, nor members have experienced.
In other business, the board approve a motion to adopt the 2012 resolution of appropriations, as presented. The b approve the 2012 resolution of tax rates and submission of the 2012 budget, as presented. In addition, the board voted to approve the 2012 Capital Projects Plan and the 2012 Bus Replacement Plan.
Brose announced that over 460 people attended “Family Literacy Night”. During the evening over $8,800 was collected at the book fair. “Donuts with Dad” will be the next event. Brose will be surveying the parents of elementary students concerning the continuation of special music programs. Because of the half-time music position at the elementary school, it will be more difficult to schedule practice time
Street announced that the Pulaski County 4-H will have an after-school program on Oct. 24 for middle school students dealing with Wind Energy
Technology. Teacher Rob Evans is conducting a Webpage Design for the school staff. Street congratulated the high school play cast for an "outstanding play" earlier this month, and the girls cross country team on advancing to the regionals.
The board approved the classified staff insurance rates for next year, as presented.
Also approved was the term of office resolution, due to the school board elections being moved to November.
The board approved the resignation from Sandy Saltsman as a corporation bus driver; and the employment of Tammy Perry as a bus driver.
Approval was given to the maternity leave request from Megan Kaluf.
The board approved the winter and spring sports contracts as presented.
A conference request was approved for Marci Kennedy to attend the AdvancEd Visit at Boone Grove High School.
Field trips were approved as follows:
1. Janet Kruger and members of FCA to attend a Colts Football Game in Indianapolis.
2. Janet Kruger and members of Student Council to attend the State Convention in Indianapolis.
