During an initial hearing Aug. 30, in Pulaski Circuit Court, a not-guilty plea was entered on Clark's behalf.
Earlier last month, state and local police detectives traveled to Louisiana to question a "person of interest" in connection with the Medaryville homicide.
The man, identified as Danny Clark, had been detained by Louisiana authorities on previous active warrants in Pulaski County for domestic violence, strangulation and intimidation, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. Louisiana police detained Clark after receiving a tip from Pulaski County authorities that Clark was in the Houma, La. area.
The death of the then unidentified victim discovered following the residential fire in Medaryville on Aug. 13 was ruled a homicide by the coroner's office on Aug. 25. The results of autopsy and toxicology have confirmed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Previously, the decedent remained unidentified pending the results of DNA analysis. The coroner’s office worked closely with the presumed victim’s assumed family.
On Aug. 13, at approximately 2:31 p.m., Pulaski County Communications received a 911 call in reference to a residential fire in the 9000 block of CR 300 North, Medaryville. The Medaryville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the location and requested assistance from additional fire agencies.
Later, the sheriff's office was notified by the MVFD that a body had been discovered inside the residence. Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location to assist with the investigation.
Agencies assisting are the Winamac and North Judson volunteer fire departments, Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, Pulaski County Emergency Management, Medaryville Police Department, Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
No further details are available at this time, according to police. This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Pulaski County Coroner’s Office and Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
