In his remarks, Fritz paid tribute to the vision of the founders who planned and built Parkview - which 40 years later "continues as a beautiful campus with facilities well-positioned to serve present and future needs." Lehman shared poignant memories from the early days of studying and planning for Parkview. Both thanked the volunteers, staff, residents and their families, and churches and the local community for their support of Parkview.
The original facility opened in September 1978 and consisted of 26 nursing care beds and 24 residential care apartments. The facility was licensed by the Indiana State Board of Health. Additions in 1984 and 1994 increased the number of nursing care beds to 42. At the completion of the 1984 addition, Medicaid residents began to be serviced. In 2006 Medicare services began. Currently, 41 of the beds are dually certified as Medicaid and Medicare.
