The Health Foundation is also considering the prospect of relocation Pulaski Health Care Center, its 58-bed skilled nursing facility. The relocation of Pulaski Health Care Center would enable the Foundation to establish a new campus to include assisted living, skilled nursing care with rehabilitation services, a secure Alzheimer’s unit, plus building sites for independent-living homes.
Two studies – a market study by Vogt Santer Insights for the Health Foundation, and a county needs assessment by the Ginovus Team of Indianapolis for the Pulaski County Development Commission determined there is an increased need for assisted living/memory care services, currently, and in future
years in Pulaski and surrounding counties.
The Ginovus study, “Pulaski County: Mapping a Path Forward,” proposed as one of its “key action” steps for the county to “develop an assisted living community within the county. The objective of this recommendation is to provide an updated living environment for the aging population of Pulaski
and surrounding counties and to increase the economic tax base.”
Pulaski Health Foundation, founded in 1959 and instrumental in the building of Pulaski Memorial Hospital, is a non-profit community organization whose updated purpose is to serve in a resource capacity with in the combined Pulaski County healthcare system to provide a high quality of life for those age 55 and older in the county. Its projects over the years include Pulaski Health Care Center, and Riverwood Commons, an apartment community in Winamac for seniors age 55 and older.
