Superintendent Dan Foster said the man waved to the students and asked them to get into his car. "Fortunately no students got into his car, and the driver sped away when a (student's) relative's care came down the driveway."
He added he understood there were six students involved from all three schools, elementary, middle and high schools.
The incident has been reported to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, and Foster says they have interviewed some of the students involved.
He urges parents to be sure someone is home when their children get off the bus and to talk to them about not talking to strangers or getting into vehicles with people they do not know. Foster also advises telling youngsters who to call if they feel threatened and where to go for safety. A police investigator who met with school officials also encouraged anyone with a cell phone camera to snap a picture of the suspect and/or vehicle should an incident like this occur in the future.
Foster says bus drivers have been made aware of the incident and are on high alert.
A similar incident occurred in Fulton County two weeks ago, Foster noted, and he also referenced the murders of two Dephi teenage girls last month that continues to have the area on edg. "We can never be too careful," the superintendent said.
