Student registration at all buildings will be Monday, Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Tuesday, Aug 4, from 2 to 7 p.m. The students’ first day will be Thursday, Aug. 13.
Approval was given by the school board for the 2015-16 administrator contracts for West Central and Cooperative School Services, as presented.
Street reported to the board that bus inspection was successful. The board and school officials thanked Jeff Barngrover for the work he does with the bus fleet, as well as the drivers.
The board was also told that West Central Elementary, Middle, and High School were recognized for nominating students for the President’s Academic Fitness Awards.
Board members used Chromebooks during the meeting and will be utilizing technology to reduce cost.
Under personnel items, he board voted to accept the resignation of guidance instructional assistant Sierra Burtis.
A motion was made to accept a list of employment for the 2015-16 school year, but after discussion, the motion was amended to allow more time for interested people to apply for a few spring coaching positions. The following were approved for employment:

The board was made aware that Vicky Alva will be the guidance instructional assistant instead of a special education instructional assistant.
The board approved the second reading of the policy manual as presented.
The board reappointed the following individuals for the 2015-16 school year:

- Monica Franscoviak – Extra-Curricular Treasurer
- Dumas & Mahnesmith – Corporation Attorney
No van bids were submitted to the school corporation for opening, as had been scheduled.
The board approved the Jasper County Library Board Appointment, as presented.
The board voted to approve the use of technology devices used for 1:1 as a textbook, or in lieu of a textbook. The fee associated with the device will be part of textbook rental; the $15 technology fee will remain the same as last year. This will allow the corporation to purchase devices with book rental and the expense to be part of the free and reduced textbook rental.
Under discussion items, the board:
- reviewed the extra-curricular balances and the wind turbine production.
- learned the summer lunch program was successful with Jessica Murray organizing and operating the program.
- heard a report that the three-year asbestos re-inspection is being done by Barton Environmental Consulting.
- learned the repair to the elementary media center drain leaks are scheduled to be done next week.
- received Information about the 2016 Budget Work Session that is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 6.
