A young Tom Hoover with sons Kohl and Garret is memorialized through a permanent scholarship fund.
|
Tom loved his job as a quality engineer for Braun Corporation, where he worked for 36 years.
His passions were working on automobiles, using his hands, and spending time outside enjoying nature. He modeled and encouraged a spirit of hard work and giving back. He was an assistant leader with 4-H R.C. cars and was a fan of NASCAR and auto racing. Hoover passed away in 2010.
Kim said she had wanted to do something like this for some time. She feels good knowing her kids support it and that her husband would be happy. She stated that her son benefited from scholarships, and said, “The Community Foundation has been around a long time; it’s been good to us.”
The scholarship will be aimed at graduates of any Pulaski County high school who plan to study in the field of automotive, engineering, vocational, or nature/conservation. Contributions of any amount may be made to the scholarship at any time. All gifts are tax deductible and may be sent to PCCF, P.O. Box 407, Winamac, or online through the Community Foundation website.
