The Incidents were as follows:
1. Sunday, June 15 at 1:38 a.m. - A routine traffic stop by Deputy Travis Clark and his K-9 partner, Gil, resulted in a drug arrest of a Rensselaer woman. Casey Lynn Carter, 23, was taken into custody after K-9 Gil alerted to illegal drugs in her vehicle. Pills were located in the vehicle and later during booking, pills were located in a small container hidden on her person.
2. Monday, June 16 at 3:10 p.m. - Deputy Michelle Jackson, assisting an investigator from Division of Family Children, went to a home in response to reports of illegal drug manufacture and use. A female, Kasey Cuevas, 25, answered the door and stated she was alone. A few minutes later a male identified as Christopher D. Bailey, 37, of Winamac emerged from a bedroom carrying a small bag. Bailey attempted to evade the officer and was stopped. A substance later identified as methamphetamine was discovered in the bag. A search warrant was obtained for the outbuildings on the property and an active meth lab was discovered by investigating officers. The Indiana State Police Meth Team was called in to seize the 20 items located in the building. Charges consist of Visiting a Common Nuisance, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of a Legend Drug/Precursor, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Minor in Place of Drug Use.
3. Monday, June 16 at 6:40 p.m. - A routine traffic stop north of Winamac resulted in the arrest of two females after Deputy Clark and his K-9 partner Gil alerted to the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle. Julie C. Lanids, 38, Logansport, and Amie J. Martinez, 34, Plymouth, were taken into custody after numerous synthetic marijuana packets of “Spice” were located as well as smoking pipes, and marijuana roaches.
4. Tuesday, June 17 at 9:23 a.m. - Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a detectives from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office referencing a possible murder victim stashed under a house trailer six miles northwest of Winamac. Two males had appeared at the Starke County Jail reporting they had spent the night in the trailer and the murder was talked about by others in the house. Officers from Pulaski County joined up the Starke County officers and went to the trailer. At the trailer was William Paul Clemons, 32, Knox, Samantha Sue Clemons, 24, Knox, Patrinia Diana Hall, 32, Winamac, and a small female child. During a consented search of the trailer and undercarriage no body was discovered.
While officers were arraigning for a cadaver dog to come to the scene, the reported murder victim was found safe in Starke County. Officers did discover illegal pills and methamphetamine and the three occupants were charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Minor endangered in place for drugs, Maintaining Common Nuisance, Possession of Controlled Substance, Visiting a Common Nuisance. An investigator from Division of Family Services was called to take possession of the child. Police report the murder story is believed to be as a direct result of illegal drug use and the paranoid state of its effect.
