Sheriff Mike Gayer reported early Monday that a lot of trees down and power lines came down across the county during the storm, and there were roads blocked by trees and wires. " A grain elevator at Denham was pushed off its foundation, and a barn near Medaryville was destroyed," he said.

The sheriff added there were extensive power outages, including all of Winamac; and electric service at the sheriff's office was disrupted, including phone lines, 911, electronic doors and equipment .

"I'm not aware of any injuries, Gayer said.

The Pulaski County EMA opened a shelter at 9 p.m., Sunday, at Bethel Bible Church on SR 14, west onf Winamac, for anyone needing an overnight place to stay.

Eastern Pulaski Community Schools announced a two-hour delay Sunday evening for Monday classes.

Electrical power was restored to Winamac after approximately three hours.

News reports say the town of Kokomo has declared a state of emergency through 6 a.m. Monday. Schools will not be open on Monday.

Early Sunday morning, the National Weather Service and news media began issuing strong advisories for the probability of severe weather and likely tornadoes across Indiana. Late Sunday morning the NWS issued a "Particularly Dangerous Situation" tornado watch, reporting  "this is the worst type of tornado watch we can issue."

Early news reports indicated the worst hit areas were in Illinois, including the towns of Washington, New Minden, Coal City and Brookport. Fans at Soldier Field in Chicago for the Bears/Ravens game were evacuated into the low concourses for a couple of hours.

In the Star City area, there were reports of trees down and doors blown off farm buildings.
