The purpose of the youth grant program is to introduce and familiarize local youth with. the concept and benefits of philanthropy. These 2013 youth grants are made possible with funds from the BP/Good Oil Youth Philanthropy Fund.
Last year, the Community Foundation awarded two $500 youth grants to county high school service groups to improve their school’s campus or K-12 program. West Central’s Student Council project “Through the Looking Glass” revitalized a high school hallway with a lockable, glass “student information center” for posting announcements, upcoming events, awards, and suggestion box. Winamac’s National Honor Society received funds for their project, “Beautify EPCSC.” Students cleaned the weight room and equipment; painted elementary playground equipment; and obtained new tools for the outdoor lab.
The Foundation’s youth philanthropy program was initiated in 2011 and includes elementary and high school opportunities.
