Currently, 31 scholarships are held at the Community Foundation. Some are one-time awards, while others follow students over four years; and not all scholarships are awarded every year. PCCF director Wendy Rose stated that nearly $41,000 would go out in scholarship support for 28 county students in 2013. Scholarship donors or representatives of each scholarship, as well as recipients and their parents were invited to attend.
This year the Foundation is celebrating 15 years of Lilly Scholars. Not only were donors, recipients and parents invited to the event, but LECS scholars and their families were also invited. In celebration, a short video was shared with the guests with updated information and photos on PCCF’s 31 LECS scholars.
The third annual Grads-In-Action community project was also completed earlier that morning. Six scholars showed their “grad-itude” for their formative years in the county by updating and organizing display boards. Jason Hickman, state park assistant manager, shared details about this year’s project.
Every scholarship includes specific award criteria defined by the donor when the fund is established.
