Three injuried in head-on crash
Police responded to a Pulaski County Sheriff 911 Dispatch call received at 7:45 p.m., Thursday (May 2), of a two-vehicle, head-on crash on CR 300 W, south of CR 250 N, northwest of Winamac.
Arriving at the scene, officers discovered a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Jennifer Keller, 39, Winamac, crested on a small hill. Police also observed a Ford Focus sideways in the road which had been traveling southbound in Keller's lane. Keller told police she attempted to evade the collision; however, the Ford struck the Tahoe head-on.
Keller's son, Brent Keller, 16, was taken by ambulance to Pulaski Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Shidler, a passenger in the Ford, was taken to Pulaski Memorial then airlifted to ParkView Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition.
Witness statements and forensic evidence at the scene identifed the driver of the Ford as Joey Allen Frinkel, 28, Winamac. Frinkel fled the scene before officers arrived. Several attempts to locate him immediately after the crash were unsuccessful. But Friday morning, shortly after midnight, Pulaski County dwere notifed Frinkel was at the St. Joseph Hospital emergency room in Plymouth seeking medical attention for his injuries.
Frinkel was taken into custody and transported to the Pulaski County jail were he was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and operating a vehicle while never receiving a license.
Police respond to call of attempted suicide
Richard Scott Reid, 46, Medaryville, died Sunday from injuries sustained from an attempted suicide Saturday after a domestic dispute with an ex-girlfriend, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's office.
Police received a 911 call at 12:11 p.m., Saturday (May 4), of a man hanging in a garage in Medaryville. Dispatchers gave information to the caller in effort to prolong the subject's life until professional emergency medical care could arrive.
Arriving at the scene, officers found Reid, the apparent victim of an attempted suicide. He was transported to Pulaski Memorial, then airlifted to ParkView Hospital in Fort Wayne. On Sunday, police were notified Reid had passed away from the injuries he sustained.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, May 6. Foul play is not suspected.
