Austin discovered Dehnhart was wanted in Tennessee after checking his liscense plate on the deputy's on-board computer.
According to the police report, after making the traffic stop, Austin observed a pipe used for smoking marijuana in plain view in Dehnhart's car. Upon further investigation a tin containing marijuana and a second pipe were discovered.
Dehnhart was transported to the Pulaski County Jaile and booked on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
County police arrest Winamac woman for drug possession
Pulaski County Police arrested a Winamac woman Wednesday afternoon on drug possession, following a traffic stop in Winamac.
Melissa Gainer, 40, was booked into the Pulaski County Jail.
According to police reports, Deputy Ryan Austin initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to signal a turn onto U.S. 35 from a side street in Winamac. After identifiying Gainer, the driver and sole occupant of the car, Austin requested a vehicle search, working from previous information regarding Gainer and alleged illegal drug activity.
Gainer consented to a search, where a number of pills and a hypodermic needle were found. Gainer was taken into custody, and while being booked into jail, a pill bottle was discovered in her clothing with 40 additional pills.
