Starke County Emergency Management director Ted Bombagetti is one of those emergency responders in Baltimore, and he indicated that District 2 will be conducting emergency operation planning and providing the city with damage assessment and debris management support starting Tuesday morning.
The team that Bombagetti is working with is made up of 15 members of the 24 Incident Management Team District members. Firefighters, law enforcement, emergency managers, and health department representatives are providing support.
Bombagetti said that the District 2 Task Force’s ambulance team is in the New Jersey area and were taken off the roads Monday night around 6 p.m. as conditions were not safe to keep units on the streets. Those members are providing evacuation support in the New Jersey area.

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 29) – Indiana has sent emergency personnel and equipment to the East Coast and New England areas to help with the preparation for and response to violent storms, including Hurricane Sandy.
So far, the state has deployed 107 people and 44 vehicles – including 24 ambulances – to the region. Teams will assist in whatever ways they are needed but are expected to help evacuate hospitals and nursing homes.
“We believe Indiana was one of the first, if not the first, state to respond to the request for aid from the east coast,” said Joe Wainscott, director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, in a statement issued Monday.
“We are constantly planning, training and preparing our emergency response resources so they can be readily available to assist our citizens in Indiana and others in their time of need,” he said.
By Monday morning, Indiana had deployed the state Incident Management Assistance Team, two All Hazards Incident Management Teams and five Emergency Medical Services Teams – also called EMS Strike Teams. The state has no additional requests for resources at this time.
