Historical Cemetery Walking Tour set
The Pulaski County Junior Historical Society Civil War Club will hold a Historical Cemetery walking tour of the Winamac Cemetery on Saturday, (Sept. 8), during Farmer’s Market. The tour will feature the stories of local veterans from the War of 1812, a local resident who served in the Revolutionary War, and many others who participated in historical battles.
The tour will start at 1 p.m.. at the Winamac Cemetery which is west of town. Participants may park in the northern section of the cemetery (Memorial Gardens).
Any youth, ages 12-18 who is interested in any aspect of the Civil War, is invited to attend the Pulaski County Junior Historical Society Civil War club which is organized in partnership with the Pulaski County Historical Society, Pulaski County Court System and the Pulaski County Extension Office.
This club explores Pulaski County resident’s involvement in the Civil War through those who served in Company B, 87th Infantry Regiment and Company H, 46th Infantry Regiment.
Meetings will be monthly with numerous activities and guest speakers. The club will also be planning some trips within the state to historical museums and battlefields. The club is supported in grant funding from the Indiana Humanities Council.
