In other business the board accepted the resignations of agriculture teacher Hallie Haring, elementary music teacher Anthony Rossi, and temporary contract teacher Michael McCarty. Resignations were also accepted from science department chairperson Dean Hill, cafeteria worker Diana Culp and Cooperative School Services personnel Holly Dana and Jennifer Kline.
The board approved the employment of Rebecca Snyder as the new agriculture teacher and FFA sponsor.
Approval was given to the following Cooperative School Services contracts:

The board approved a motion to issue a letter of intent to Brad Odom for a teaching position and basketball coaching position contingent upon the board receiving a letter of resignation from Gina Hierlmeier.
Also in other business the board approved a motion to retain the current president and vice-president until January due to the restructuring of the board. School board elections will now take place in November. Kerry Miller was elected board secretary.
The board approved the reappointment of the following individuals for the 2012-13 school year:
1. Pamela Ledford – Corporation Treasurer
2. Bonnie Koebcke – Corporation Assistant Treasurer
3. Monica Franscoviak – Extra-Curricular Treasurer
4. Dumas & Weist – Corporation Attorney
The board accepted the quotation from Midwest Transit for a 2012 Chevrolet/Starcraft mini-bus for $40,983. Mini Bus 2 will be traded in for $7,000.
The board passed a resolution for members of the school board and the superintendent to participate in professional growth opportunities during the 2012-13 school year. This will consist of conferences and workshops sponsored by the ISBA and IAPSS as well as other worthy organizations.
Under discussion items, Superintendent Charles Mellon reviewed the list of staff vacancies that still exist for the next school year. He also reported on the summer maintenance projects that are being completed. Also, all buses passed inspection on June 26, largely due to the efforts of Mr. Barngrover of the Francesville Garage.
The board learned the school can now monitor the production of the wind turbine on the school computers. The software was a part of the purchase.
The central office has received a face-lift. Dave Zeltwanger donated his time and effort to power-wash the stone on the office front. The board thanked Zeltwanger for doing the work and Alliance Bank for supplying the cleaning solution.
The 2013-2024 bus replacement plan and the 2013-2015 capital projects plan were shared with the board. These plans are a part of the 2013 school budget. The board reviewed the June 30 cash balances of all the accounts as well as the extracurricular accounts.
2012 ISTEP scores were shared with the board. A more detailed report will be shared at the Aug. 2 board meeting. Mellon said the task ahead is to determine why the scores have fallen to below state average and what corrective measures need to be taken.
