Jessica Murray presented the board with information from the Indiana Department of Education concerning meal offerings. Some of the changes include the offering of a fresh fruit and vegetable bar daily at all grade levels, and the portions served will be greater for high school students compared to the middle school students; and middle school will have greater portions than the elementary.
The general cost of food and supplies has increased. With these considerations, lunch price will increase 10 cents at the elementary and high school and five cents at the middle school, as indicated below. Breakfast prices remain unchanged.
The prices were set as follows: MS/HS Breakfast $1.20; Elementary Breakfast $1.10; Reduced 30 cents; Adult Breakfast
$1.45.
High School Lunch $1.85; Middle School Lunch $1.80; Elementary Lunch $1.60; Reduced 40 cents; Adult Lunch $2.50.
Book rental fees for the 2012-2013 school year were set as follows:
Kindergarten $68.50; First Grade $95.75; Second Grade $99.25; Third Grade $96.25; Fourth Grade $95.25; Fifth Grade
$97.25; Grades 6-12: Student book rental will be determined by course selection.
The board approved the resignations of Michelle Potter from Cooperative School Services, and Megan Jungels as Scope sponsor.
The board approved the employment of John Phillips as teacher and varsity baseball coach, and Mike Harter for Summer Driver’s Education.
Approval was given to the request from Lorie Zellers to transfer from fourth grade to fifth grade.
The board approved the student handbook changes as presented.
The board approved the student insurance renewal with Student Assurance Services, as presented.
Approval was also given to the wireless internet agreements with IT Group, as presented.
Under discussion items principals Don Street and Tony Brose told the board they are offering an overview of the RISE Evaluation Model to the staff. Street congratulated the girl’s track team for finishing second in the sectional. Brose thanked the Monsanto Company for the donation of a picnic table for the kindergarten playground.
Summer school classes at the elementary school will be held from June 4 through June 15. The IREAD 3 retest is scheduled for June 20.
Mellon discussed board meeting dates for the next school year with the board. The board was informed of available training for board members in regard to the new superintendent evaluation model. The board expressed appreciation to Brad Neihouser for his positive comments toward the students of West Central High School and Mr. Kline.
