Applications for PCCF scholarships have been made available online since 2009. This economical, easy-to-use method benefits schools and students as well as the overall administrative process. Ms. Krause has provided demonstrations on the online procedure to seniors and parents at both county school corporations each year.
Scholarships vary widely in eligibility and criteria factors based on the wishes of each fund’s founders. Some may target students with financial need, for study in a particular field, for graduates from a certain high school or township, or who have academic or other distinctions.
A number of people make these scholarships possible. Along with the original scholarship founders, there are often additional donors, advisory committee members, school representatives, Foundation staff and board of directors involved. Scholarship endowments are a testament to those who have gone before in that they have left permanent sources of
support for present and future students.
PCCF currently manages 29 scholarship funds, and last year awarded more than $27,000 to 21 students. Since 2002, over 270 students have received scholarships through the Foundation for a total of $375,974. The four-year, full tuition Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is also administered by the Community Foundation but is funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. Thirty Pulaski County students have received this scholarship since 1998.
